Questions parents ask
- Can an app really read bedtime stories in my own voice?
- Yes. You read a short passage aloud once, usually under a minute, and Taletune builds a voice profile from it. After that any story in the library can be narrated in your voice, chosen by your child on the night. It sounds like you — most children recognise it immediately.
- How long does it take to set up?
- About a minute. You read the passage shown on screen in a quiet room at your normal reading pace. The app checks the recording is clear enough before building the profile, so you know straight away whether it worked.
- Is AI voice cloning safe for my child?
- For the child listening, it is simply audio narration — no screen and no autoplay. The question worth asking is about the adult handing over their voice. Your recording builds your voice profile and nothing else, it is never shared, providers are not permitted to train their own models on it, and you can delete the recording and the derived voice model at any time from the app.
- How many languages does Taletune support?
- Fifteen languages and twenty-five voices, because accents are separate. That includes English in US, UK, Canadian and Australian variants, Spanish in European and Mexican, French in European and Canadian, Portuguese in Brazilian and European, and Arabic in Modern Standard alongside Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine and Maghrebi dialects.
- Can grandparents record a voice too?
- Yes. Up to five family members can each create their own voice profile, and your child chooses whose voice reads tonight's story. This is one of the most common uses, particularly for grandparents living in another country. Always ask the person first — creating a profile from someone else's voice without their permission is against our terms.
- Is Taletune free?
- Taletune is free to download on iOS and Android, with an optional paid subscription. You can create a voice profile and hear a story back without paying. Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play, and cancelled in your store subscription settings.
- What is the Personalized Story Creator?
- It builds an original story around your child. You choose a length, an age band, a theme and a setting, then add your child as the hero along with supporting characters and their favourite toys or pets. Every generated story is automatically screened for content unsuitable for children, and you can read it before anyone hears it.
- How do I delete my account and my voice?
- You can delete an individual voice profile from the profiles screen in the app at any time, which deletes the recording and the derived voice model. To delete your whole account and all associated data, use the account deletion form on taletune.com or the equivalent option in the app.
